Optty is an independent and payment provider-agnostic global Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) integration. Certified with 45 global BNPL providers, across 59 countries and in 36 currencies, Optty gives you access to over 185 integrations.
Optty’s mission is to supercharge the performance of retailers by optimizing the shopping and checkout experience, giving customers more choice, and maximizing conversion rates.
Whether you are new to BNPL, looking to expand your BNPL operations across more partners and/or regions, or simply wanting to gain more control over your current BNPL operations — Optty fits your needs.
Requirements
- Store must be operating in a country supported by one of Optty's BNPL providers, but may be located anywhere in the world.
- Store must be transacting in one of Optty's supported currencies.
- Manage Payments and Manage Settings user permissions must be enabled.
Setup
If you do not currently have an Optty merchant account, sign up at Optty. After submitting the form, you'll receive your login credentials.
To set up Optty in the BigCommerce control panel, go to Store Setup › Payments and select Optty from the list of Online Payment Methods.
You will be taken to the Optty Settings tab. Enter the Client ID, Client Secret, and Client Hash credentials from your Optty merchant account into their corresponding fields and set your preferences. Click Enable to display your selected Buy Now Pay Later payment methods on the checkout. Click Save when done.
- Client ID — The client ID credentials provided by Optty.
- Client Secret — Used for authentication in Optty's API.
- Client Hash — Used to verify the notifications that BigCommerce receives from Optty.
- Display Name — Control how Optty's Buy Now Pay Later payment method will appear at checkout. We recommend something like Buy Now Pay Later.
- Test Mode — Determines whether your store is in Test Mode, which allows you to safely test your payment configuration without processing live transactions. Use the checkbox to toggle this setting for Optty's Buy Now Pay Later payment method. By default, this setting is enabled.
Ensure that Phone Number is a required field for checkout. As Optty requires the customer's phone number to process transactions, check that this field is set as required in your store. In the BigCommerce control panel, go to Settings › Account sign up form. Click on the Address Fields tab to confirm that Phone Number is set as a required field. For more information, see Adding and Editing Fields in the Account Signup Form.
To add BNPL payment providers, sign in to the Optty Retail Control Center (ORCC), then click Add New to select the BNPL provider you would like to offer on the checkout. See Optty's documentation for more information on adding and configuring BNPL providers. You can configure display rules such as minimum and maximum checkout values, and additional fees, and set checkout and product widget configurations for each BNPL provider. For more information, see Optty's setup videos.
Now that Optty is set up, how can I promote it on my storefront? By using the Optty BNPL Banners app, you can add banners to your product listing and product detail pages, as well as your footer for global messaging. The app includes full WYSIWYG widget customization control, allowing you to create banners that fit with your brand.
EGP, SAR, and AED Currencies
If you enable Optty for Egyptian Pound (EGP), Saudi Riyal (SAR), or United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) currencies, you will have additional payment method options within the Optty Settings tab. Certain payment providers can be enabled independently of the providers enabled in the BNPL Management area of your Optty Retail Control Center (ORCC).
Paymob, Paytab, and Valu can be enabled separately for Egyptian Pound (EGP).
Tabby and Tamara can be enabled separately for United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) and Saudi Riyal (SAR).
Once enabled, these providers appear as payment methods in addition to the Optty “Buy Now Pay Later” option on the payment step at checkout. Selecting any of these methods will redirect customers to Optty’s payment page; however, the page will be tailored to the specific method.
