Requirements

  • Store must be based in the United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, South Africa, Malta, or Jersey.
  • Manage Payments and Manage Settings user permissions must be enabled.
 

Setup

To set up Opayo by Elavon, go to SettingsPayments and select Opayo by Elavon from the list of Online Payment Methods.

You will be taken to the Opayo by Elavon Settings tab. Enter the credentials from your Opayo by Elavon account into their corresponding fields. Click Save when done.

  • Display Name — Control how the payment gateway appears at checkout. We recommend something like Credit/Debit.
  • Vendor Name — The vendor name which you created when you signed up with Opayo by Elavon.
  • Require CVV — This option will require shoppers to enter the CVV/CVV2/CVD code for their credit card during checkout. Enabling this option adds extra security on credit card transactions.
  • Transaction Type — Select Authorize and Capture (recommended) or Authorize Only. See Manually Capturing Transactions (Authorize Only) for details.
  • Test Mode — Determines whether your store is in Test Mode. Set to No (recommended) when you are ready to take payments.
  • Repeat Payments — Allows processing subsequent payments against the parent transaction within the MySagePay portal.
 

Additional setup required! When setting up Opayo by Elavon for the first time, you will need to add BigCommerce payment server IP addresses in the Opayo dashboard. Contact our support team for more information.

 

Stored Credit Cards

The stored credit cards feature enables your customers to save their credit card details for future purchases, allowing them to check out quickly and easily. See Enabling Stored Payment Methods for more information on this feature.

Stored credit cards are not a standard Opayo feature. Please contact Elavon customer services for further information on how to have tokenized payments enabled on your account.

How can a merchant create an Opayo by Elavon e-Commerce account?

Submit your contact and business details to Elavon and their dedicated sales team will assist you with setting up your account.

After creating an account, how can a merchant find their vendor name?

This is provided by Opayo's helpdesk. They will contact you within 24-48 hours of your vendor name being created.

Alternatively, you can call the helpdesk directly to obtain this information.

How do I raise a complaint with Elavon?

Transactions

How long until the funds are transferred to my bank?

Settlement is done the next day, along with the ability to choose between gross and net settlement. Settlement files are generated at 1130 GMT each day.

Same day settlement is available for UK merchants. Simply batch by 3pm to receive settlement later that day. £0.30 per funding event and same day batch before 11am.

Refunds

How soon after a transaction can I perform a refund?

Merchants can process refunds immediately.

Can I perform a refund from the BigCommerce control panel?

No, you must issue any refunds directly from your Opayo dashboard. To ensure that your orders reflect any refund adjustments, select "Refund transaction processed external to BigCommerce" when performing the refund action in BigCommerce. See Processing Refunds for more information.

Is there an amount of time after which I cannot perform a refund?

No, there is no time limit on performing refunds.

Are there any fees for chargebacks/refunds?

Chargeback fees are determined on a merchant-by-merchant basis and are part of your merchant agreement with Opayo by Elavon.

Additional Features

Does Opayo by Elavon support 3D Secure (3DS)?

Yes, Opayo by Elavon supports 3DS 2.0, with fallback to 3DS 1.0. 3DS 2.0 requires Optimized One-Page Checkout.

Merchants using custom checkout as their checkout type must select This checkout supports Optimized-One Page Checkout settings under Custom Checkout Settings.

Does Opayo by Elavon allow authorize-only or recurring/subscription payments?

Yes, transactions can be manually captured by selecting Authorize Only as the Transaction Type. You will need to capture authorized translations from your Opayo dashboard.

Recurring payments are not supported at this time.

Does Opayo by Elavon support manual orders?

Yes, Opayo by Elavon supports manual orders. However, you must ensure that MOTO (Mail Order/Telephone Order) orders are supported on your Merchant ID by contacting your Merchant Acquirer.

Once your Merchant Acquirer has either confirmed that MOTO transactions are supported on your existing merchant number or provided you with a new merchant number, contact Elavon customer services to have this feature enabled on your account.
