Bolt boosts sales and installs in your BigCommerce store in just minutes. It powers payment integrations and checkout features that help your business grow.
Bolt lets customers check out in your online store in one click, even if they haven’t shopped with you before. That’s because anyone who shops at any Bolt retailer can join the network and save their information for future checkouts. The Bolt network is growing every day. As the network comes pre-built into our integration, you can tap into this benefit immediately.
Bolt accepts payments securely with an enterprise-grade payment facilitator, and offers customers alternative payment methods, like digital wallets and installment payments. Shoppers love this simple, flexible checkout, with higher conversions than guest checkout.

Setup
Follow the steps below to set up Bolt One-Click Checkout.
1. Go to Settings › Payments. Scroll down to Accelerated Checkout and click Set up on the Bolt pane.
Alternatively, scroll down to Online Payment Methods, click to expand the list, then click Set up next to Bolt.
2. Click Connect on the Bolt settings tab.
3. Create a Bolt merchant account by filling in the required fields and selecting your desired payment processor. You will be prompted to set up your payment processor and configure your capture settings in the Bolt Merchant Dashboard. See Bolt’s documentation for more information.
Avoid duplicate card fields. If the payment processor selected for Bolt transactions is also set up in BigCommerce as a standalone payment gateway, the Credit/Debit Card feature for that processor is automatically disabled during Bolt's setup process. This does not affect other payment methods, such as PayPal and APMs. Note that certain gateway features, such as Braintree's Account Updater, may not be available when using Bolt's hosted card fields. Card fields can be manually re-enabled if desired from the payment gateway's settings tab in the BigCommerce control panel.
Settings
Once Bolt is connected, you can configure display options and switch between Production and Sandbox configurations. Go to Settings › Payments and click on the Bolt settings tab.
- Display Name — controls how the payment gateway appears at checkout. We recommend something like “Credit/Debit Card”.
- Show Bolt quick payment button on product details page — allows you to enable the Bolt payment button on the product details page. You will also need to enable quick payment buttons in Page Builder.
- Current checkout configuration — switches between Bolt Sandbox and Bolt Production. Bolt Sandbox is used to test transactions on your storefront.
Account settings such as transaction type and configuration mode can be updated in the Bolt Merchant Dashboard.
Phone Number as a required field for checkout. For guest shoppers to effectively create a Bolt account and leverage Bolt’s one-click experience during future purchases, Bolt recommends setting the phone number field as required during checkout.

Account Eligibility
What items are restricted for merchants to sell?
Generally, your payment processor will prohibit items. However, Bolt has a list of prohibited merchant categories. For questions about categories that need approval or are not listed, contact a sales or customer service representative at Bolt.
Transactions
After I create an account, what is the waiting period before I can process transactions?
As long as you provision live credentials from your payment service provider to Bolt and all other development work to render your cart has been completed, there is no requisite waiting period to take you live.
How long until the funds are transferred to my bank?
Settlement timelines are determined by your payment processor. As a merchant, you control your settlement timelines directly with your payment processor of choice. If you process transactions natively through Bolt, all transactions captured by 7 PM are sent for settlement the next business day.
Will I or my customers receive an additional email or invoice from Bolt?
No, your customers will only receive an email from you. However, if you use Bolt to intermediate your transactions, you can leverage Bolt to send shopper confirmation emails as well as cater to all of your shoppers’ other post-purchase needs.
Refunds
How soon after a transaction can I perform a refund?
General card network rules apply. As soon as a transaction has been captured and capable of being refunded, you can refund a transaction from your BigCommerce Control Panel. For more information, visit Processing Refunds.
Is there an amount of time after which I cannot perform a refund?
General card network rules apply. Bolt will let you refund an item for as long as card schemes and your refund policy permits.
Are there any fees for chargebacks/refunds?
Chargeback and refund fees are assessed directly by your payment processor. As a gateway, Bolt does not assess additional chargeback or refund fees.
