Clearpay is a popular Buy Now, Pay Later solution in European markets. This payment method breaks transactions into four equal installments due every two weeks. Clearpay enables your shoppers to flexibly pay for larger purchases, while paying you upfront. Shopper payment schedules are managed by Clearpay, so there is no additional risk for you.

How It Works
Once connected, shoppers meeting the requirements will see Clearpay as an available payment method at checkout.
When the shopper proceeds with their order, they will be redirected to the Clearpay payment page and prompted to enter their email or mobile number. Clearpay will perform a risk check on the shopper, and based on the results, they will approve or reject the transaction.
After the order has been placed, it will appear in your control panel as clearpay (via gateway) in the Payment Method field. Since Clearpay pays you upfront for approved transactions, you can process Clearpay orders as you would any typical order.
Requirements and Limitations
- Your store must meet the following criteria:
- You must have one of the following transactional currencies available: EUR, GBP.
- Your store must use Optimized One-Page Checkout.
- Shopper Requirements
- Shoppers must use an address in one of the following countries at checkout: ES, FR, IT, UK.
- Shoppers must select one of the following transaction currencies: EUR, GBP.

- Additional Setup
- You must request the payment method to be added to your Adyen account.
- If you set up Adyen after June 2022, contact our Support team to have Clearpay enabled in your store.
- If you are not sure when you enabled Adyen, our team can check to see if Clearpay is available for your account.
- Limitations
- Chargebacks can only occur if your business model exclusively uses digital products, or if you break the Clearpay scheme rules listed in your Adyen customer area.
FAQ
Does Clearpay support manual capture?
Yes, you can delay capture of Clearpay payments. Capture must be performed within 13 days of the first installment, or Clearpay will cancel the order and refund the shopper.
Does the Clearpay payment method support payment banners?
While Clearpay via Adyen does not support payment banners, promotional banners on product pages are a feature of the Clearpay payment gateway.
Can I offer Clearpay in other regions?
Clearpay can only be offered in the countries listed above. However, Clearpay is part of the Afterpay group, which supports additional countries via the Afterpay payment method. For more information, see Afterpay.
