Which Theme Platform do I have?
Your BigCommerce store will be using one of two theme platforms, which determine what designs and design related features are available for your store. Our current theme platform, Stencil, comes with all newly created stores. Stores created before November 2016 were outfitted with Blueprint, a legacy theme engine that is being phased out. To learn more about the differences between Stencil and Blueprint, see The Stencil Theme Platform.
You can use this guide to determine which theme platform your store is currently using. Knowing this will help you determine whether or not certain features, apps, or design customizations will work for you.
Which Theme Platform am I using?
A quick way to tell what theme platform you currently have applied to your storefront is to go to Storefront Design › Design Options in the control panel.
If the Design Options menu shows the Scripts Tab, your store is using a Stencil Theme.
If you see a Design Option menu shows the Mobile tab, you are using a Blueprint theme.
Another way to determine your theme and which platform it belongs to, use these steps.
1. Go to Storefront Design › My Themes
2. Check your theme's name against the table below. The Stencil column does not include the variation names, for example Cornerstone includes Cornerstone Light, Bold, and Warm.
Can't find your theme on these lists? The above list only lists themes from the BigCommerce Marketplace. If your theme name does not appear on either list it is not supported by BigCommerce.
Third Party Themes
If you purchased your theme from a partner or from a third party distribution, like Theme Forest, the theme is a Stencil Theme. The creator of the theme is responsible for support. If the theme needs to update, contact the theme's developer.
