Order Notifications

This article covers the multiple options merchants have for receiving notifications when a customer places a new order. For information on notifications the customer receives when placing a new order or when the status of their order changes, see Customer Order Notifications.

Order Notifications

Order notifications are brief messages informing you that an order has been placed. Order information is included in the notification, and will include a link to your store to view the complete order details.

To enable order notifications go to Advanced SettingsOrder Notifications. Check Email Message and/or SMS Text Message to enable them, then click the Save button.

When the page refreshes you will see one or two additional tabs to the right of General Settings indicating which order notification method(s) you have enabled.

Email Message Notifications

1. Click the Email Message tab to the right of General Settings.

2. In the Email Address field enter the email address or addresses you would like to have receive order notifications. If entering multiple addresses, separate them with a comma.

3. Save your changes.

Click the Test Notification Method link below the Email Address field to have a test order notification sent to the address or addresses you entered.

You can have email order notifications sent to your cell / mobile device by including its email address. See Text via Email for more information.

SMS Text Message Notifications

 

In order to use the SMS text message notification method, you must first register for a free SMSGlobal account. While the account is free and includes 5 free message credits, SMSGlobal is a paid service.

1. Click the SMS Text Message tab to the right of General Settings.

2. Enter your SMSGlogbal Username, SMSGlobal Password, and your Cell/Mobile Number.

3. Save your changes.

Click the Test Notification Method link below the Cell/Mobile Number field to have a test order notification sent to your mobile phone.

Forwarding Order Invoices

You can also have customers' order invoices forwarded to one or more email addresses. This email also includes order details such as the items ordered and the customer's shipping address.

1. Go to Store SetupStore Settings, then click the Miscellaneous tab.

2. Check Forward Order Invoices, and enter the email address or addresses you would like to receive the forwarded invoice emails. Separate multiple email addresses by a comma.

3. Save your changes.

Text via Email

Most major cellular providers give you the ability to send a text message via email. You can use this to receive new order notifications on your phone. Just include your phone number's email address in the email address field as described above. Use the full 10-digit number which includes the area code.

For example, if your number is 555-123-6789, and AT&T is your cellular provider, then your email address would be 5551236789@txt.att.net.
