Email & MX Records
Email in BigCommerce
BigCommerce provides free email forwarding. In order for BigCommerce to forward your email, you will need to have pointed your domain's nameservers to BigCommerce. For more information on setting up a forwarding address, see Setting Up Email Accounts.
We do strongly recommend using a hosted email solution, which will let you host email for accounts on your domain. These solutions also have advanced features such as spam protection and email filtering. To use a hosted email solution, you will need to point your MX records from BigCommerce to the email host.
To host your email with a hosted email solution, you will need to update the MX records in your control panel. To access your store’s MX records go to Server Settings › DNS Records.
MX records determine where your domain’s email traffic is directed. While we do provide links to MX records for some commonly used email providers below, generally your email host would be able to provide you with the necessary records.
