Adding Bing Ads Conversion Tracking

Bing Ads is a pay-per-click website advertising service that includes your paid listing on both the Bing and Yahoo search results. An effective campaign can help you to attract visitors, increase sales, and improve your brand awareness. This article covers how to generate the conversion tracking code and how to add the code to your store. For more information about Bing Ads, see Bing's documentation.

 
 

Generating the Conversion Tracking Code

1. Log into your Bing Ads account. If you do not already have a Bing Ads account, you'll need to create one.

2. Go to CampaignsConversion Tracking

3. Click Get started to continue.

4. Click Create UET tag and then enter a name.

5. Copy the generated code tag. You can also Download and Email the tag if you wish to keep a copy. In the next section, we'll create a conversion goal to track visitor actions.

Creating a Conversion Goal

1. Go to CampaignsConversion TrackingConversion goals.

2. Click Create conversion goal to continue.

3. Enter a name for your goal, and choose Destination URL. Then, click Next. See, How do I create a conversion goal to learn about the other types.

4. For Destination URL, select Equals to. For the following step you will need to use your store's secure URL. To locate this, log in to your BigCommerce control panel and look at the URL in your browser bar.

If you have not installed a private SSL, your URL will look similar to this:

If this is your URL's format, paste the following URL in the Web page URL field.

  • Destination URL: https://store-######.mybigcommerce.com/finishorder.php
  • Destination URL (Optimized One-Page Checkout): https://store-######.mybigcommerce.com/checkout/order-confirmation

Remember to replace the store-###### with your URL.

If you have installed a private SSL certificate, your URL will look more like a regular domain name:

In this case, paste the following URL in the Web page URL field.

  • Destination URL: https://www.yourdomain.com/finishorder.php
  • Destination URL (Optimized One-Page Checkout): https://www.yourdomain.com/checkout/order-confirmation

Remember to replace www.yourdomain.com with your actual domain.

5. For Revenue Value select The value of this conversion action may vary (for instance, by purchase price). For If no value is assigned, what should the default value be?, change the currency to match your store and enter 0.

6. Configure Count and Conversion window to your liking and then click Save.

 
 

Adding the Code to Your Store

1. In your BigCommerce control panel, go to Advanced SettingsAffiliate Conversion Tracking.

2. Paste the conversion code tag from the previous section in the Conversion Tracking Code box. You can drag the bottom corner of the box to make it bigger so it's easier to see the code.

3. Add the following lines after your conversion code:

4. Your finished code should resemble the example below. Some values may vary depending on your setup. Save your changes.
