How do I setup Google Analytics in my BigCommerce Store?

Difficulty Level: Growing Your Store     Tools Needed: Google Analytics, Control Panel

In order to market effectively to your audience you must know the following information:

  1. Who is looking at your storefront?
  2. Where are they coming from?
  3. What are they Purchasing?

Google Analytics is a free service offered by Google that allows you access to detailed statistics about your website's traffic. It will show you important information that will help you be more effective in marketing your BigCommerce store to your target audience online.

After successfully setting up Google Analytics with your BigCommerce store you will know:

  • How many people are viewing your website (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • What pages they are looking at
  • What search engine/website they were referred from
  • What your conversion rate is. The conversion rate is determined by the number of views -vs- number of sales.

Here is an example of the stats from within Google Analytics:

Create your own Google Analytics account:

  1. Go to the URL: http://www.google.com/analytics
