Featuring over 182 million active shoppers and more than a billion live listings, eBay is one of the world’s most popular marketplaces. Originally started as a consumer-to-consumer, auction-based service for used items, today 80% of all products sold on eBay are new.

eBay Fees
There are two fees for listing a product in the eBay marketplace: an insertion fee and a final value fee.
Insertion Fee
When you list an item for sale on eBay from BigCommerce, you'll be charged an insertion fee. All eBay sellers receive up to 250 zero insertion fee listings per month. Additional zero fee listings, reduced insertion fees, and other benefits are available with an eBay Store subscription.
Listings created in BigCommerce are fixed priced and Good 'Til Cancelled format. If the item does not sell after 30 days, it will automatically be relisted and a new insertion fee will be assessed. Renewed listings count towards your monthly zero fee listing allowance.
See eBay’s Selling fees article for more details.
Final Value Fee
If your item sells, you will be charged a final value fee. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus a per order fee. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, any shipping costs collected from the buyer, sales tax, and any other applicable fees.
The final value fee percentage varies depending on the listing category. Reduced final value fees and other benefits are available with an eBay Store subscription.
See eBay’s Selling fees article for more details.
Other Fees
In addition to insertion and final value fees, eBay may also assess additional final value fees and fees for enhanced listing features or services.
Enhanced listing features and services cannot be managed from BigCommerce and are only available from within your eBay account. These are optional and you will not be charged for them unless you manually enable them from your eBay seller account.
Enhanced features and services include:
eBay Stores Subscription
Showcase your products on an eBay storefront with a Store subscription plan. Higher volume sellers can benefit from more zero insertion fee listings and lower final value fees. Depending on your plan, subscription features include:
- more zero insertion fee listings
- discounted insertion fees
- lower final value fee rates
- increased eBay buyer confidence
- access to tools to help promote, advertise, and analyze your eBay store and listings
See eBay’s Store selling fees article for additional information.
FAQ
Does connecting to eBay affect my pricing? Are there any additional fees?
Orders generated through eBay count towards your store’s sales volume. Increased revenue could result in your store being automatically upgraded, depending on your current plan.
See eBay fees for information on fees assessed by eBay.
What if I only have a personal eBay account?
You can create a new account for your business or change your personal account into a business account type.
How do I disable or disconnect eBay from my BigCommerce store?
Check with your app's support team and documentation. Your eBay listings will remain active unless ended via the app or through your eBay seller admin.
What happens if I exceed my eBay seller limits?
You won’t be able to create additional listings until your listing count or total value is below your current seller limit. You can also request higher limits from eBay. Since insertion fees are assessed on every product listed on eBay, we don’t recommend listing your entire catalog all at once initially — especially if you are new to listing on eBay.
Can I list on eBay.com.au and other eBay marketplaces?
Marketplace availability is dependent on merchant requirements and the app you’re using. Check your app’s documentation or contact its support team for more information.
How long does it take for an order from eBay to appear in my BigCommerce control panel?
Generally, orders appear in the control panel within a few minutes. The amount of time depends on the level of API traffic eBay is currently experiencing.
How do I create shipping labels for orders from eBay?
See eBay’s article on Printing and voiding shipping labels for details.
Can orders be cancelled?
Orders can be cancelled from eBay Seller Hub. See eBay’s Order cancellation policy for more details.
How do I refund an eBay order?
Full and partial refunds are issued through eBay Seller Hub. See eBay’s Refunding buyers article for more information.
