WeChat Pay is a rapidly growing keystone payment method for businesses wanting to reach Chinese shoppers, both at home and abroad. Over 900 million users access the WeChat app each month to chat, browse, and make payments – all in one place.
How It Works
Once WeChat Pay is enabled, shoppers that meet the requirements will see it as a payment option at checkout.
After proceeding with the order, a QR code will appear for the shopper to scan with their mobile device, allowing them to complete the transaction in their WeChat mobile app.
When the order is placed, it will appear in your control panel as WeChat Pay (via gateway) in the Payment Method field. Orders placed using WeChat Pay share the same fulfillment process as typical orders.

Supported Gateways
Adyen

- Additional Setup
- You must have one of the following transactional currencies available: AUD, CAD, CNY, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY, NZD, SGD, or USD.
- You must request the payment method to be added to your Adyen account.
- Shopper Requirements
- Shopper's transaction currency must be AUD, CAD, CNY, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY, NZD, SGD, or USD.
Nexi XPay
- Additional Setup
- You must request WeChat Pay to be added to your Nexi XPay merchant account. To request WeChat Pay, complete this contract and return it to PPRO, Nexi's Partner.
- You must enable WeChat Pay in your Nexi merchant account under the Alternative Payments menu with the ID you received from PPRO.
- Limitations
- Refunds are possible only after funds have been received and the transaction has the Accounted status in your merchant account.
Stripe

- Additional Setup
- You must be on the latest version of Stripe to use WeChat Pay.
- You must have one of the following transactional currencies available: GBP, HKD, JPY, AUD, CAD, CNY, EUR, SGD, USD, DKK, SEK, NOK, or CHF.

- Shoppers must use one of the supported currency and billing country combinations. See the FAQ for more information.

No, recurring payments are not supported.
Which currency-billing country combinations are supported with WeChat Pay?
If you have enabled WeChat Pay via Adyen, shoppers can use a billing address in any country with all of the supported currencies.
If you have enabled WeChat Pay via Stripe, shoppers must use a billing address in the country or countries that correspond to their selected currency. See the table below for a list of all supported currency and billing country combinations.
