Channel Manager is where you can discover, connect to, and manage all the different sales and marketing channels available for your store. Extending your reach beyond your BigCommerce storefront can create new sales opportunities and help promote your brand.

Channel Manager provides a centralized area in your control panel where you can:

  • Discover new channels. The partners and solutions featured in Channel Manager all represent best-in-class functionality and worked closely with BigCommerce to ensure you receive all the channel's benefits and functionality without ever leaving your control panel. Channels/channel providers sometimes offer special benefits or promotions for signing up in Channel Manager.
  • Manage channel status. Check the status of all connected channels in one place. Turn off existing channels and/or enable new ones.
  • Configure channel settings. Set up or change channel-specific settings for things like catalog syncing, account details, and preferences.

Channel types

There are five channel types:
  • Storefronts — This channel type lists all of your storefront channels, including your default storefront, additional native (Stencil) storefronts, and headless storefronts.
  • Marketplaces — This type of channel makes your product available for purchase on a separate platform. Orders from marketplace channels come into your control panel the same way storefront orders do.
  • Point of Sale — These apps are used to connect and sync your store with popular third-party POS systems. Stock numbers are synchronized between the two systems.
  • Ads and Social — This type of channel is used to advertise your brand and/or products on different platforms. Unlike marketplaces, marketing feeds are not a direct order source but drive awareness, traffic, and sales via promotion and advertising on other platforms.
  • Affiliate and Influencer — This channel type includes apps that connect you with affiliate and influencer partners to help you reach new customers on various social platforms and web publications.

Channel Availability

The channels that you see available to set up in Channel Manager are based on your store’s country and currency settings.

  • If you don’t see a particular channel, it could be because that channel is not available in your country, or for your store’s default currency.
  • If your store isn’t eligible for any offerings of a particular channel category, then that category panel won’t appear in your control panel.
  • Some channels are installed as apps in the App Marketplace. For this reason, you should be logged in as the store owner. Only the store owner has the ability to install apps.

Requirements

The Create Channels, Edit Channels, and Delete Channels permissions are necessary to use Channel Manager. The Store Owner can assign these permissions to other users.

Creating and Managing Channels

To add a channel to your store, go to Channel Manager and click Create Channel. In the list of available channels, click Connect next to the channel you want to set up.

Marketplaces

The individual requirements and setup processes are different for each channel. Some channels are set up by installing an app from the App Marketplace, while others are native, built-in integrations.

See the following docs for more details and setup instructions:

Note: While there are sales and marketing channel apps available in the App Marketplace with similar functionality, they are not represented or managed in Channel Manager.

Managing a Channel

If you need to change or edit any settings for a channel (such as settings you set up when you first connected the channel), you can do this from the Channel Manager overview page. Click the next to the channel and select Edit Settings.

FAQ

Why don’t I see a certain channel?

The channels that you see in Channel Manager are automatically shown based on your store’s country and currency settings. If you don’t see a particular channel, that could be because it is not available in your country, or for your store’s default currency. Some channels are only available to US stores using USD currency. See our support documentation for the channel for requirements.

If you’re sure your settings are compatible but you still aren’t seeing a certain channel, please contact our support team.
