Australia Post provides real-time shipping quotes and postal services, offering both domestic delivery in Australia and international delivery to over 190 countries worldwide. As Australia Post is available only to merchants shipping from Australia, you will need to add your Shipping Origin and create a shipping zone for Australia.
Enabling Australia Post
Before enabling Australia Post, you will need to generate an API key, which will be sent to your email address. In the BigCommerce control panel, make sure that your Shipping Origin contains a valid Australian postal code in the address.
1. Go to Settings › Shipping, then click Configure.
2. Click Connect next to Australia Post under Real-time shipping quotes.
3. Under the Settings tab, enter a display name (such as "Australia Post") and select at least one delivery service.
4. Under the Connection tab, paste your API Auth Key, then click Submit. Leave Use Test Mode unchecked unless you are checking your storefront shipping quotes with a test order.
5. If you have more than one storefront, the Storefronts tab allows you to toggle your Australia Post integration on or off for each storefront. This gives you the ability to provide distinct shipping methods tailored to a geographical region or customer segment. See our Multi-Storefront guide for more information.
6. Your Australia Post integration is now set up. The Quote tab lets you test your connection and get a quote. Enter your destination country, state, and zip code, followed by your package weight, value, and dimensions. Click Get quote, and you will see a shipping quote for all valid services.

Australia Post Size and Weight Guidelines
Destination | Maximum weight | Maximum length | Maximum dimensions |
---|---|---|---|
Domestic | 22kg | 105cm | 0.25 cubic meters |
International | 20kg | 105cm | 140cm girth |
Domestic shipments are charged either by actual weight or cubic weight (dimensional weight), whichever is greater. International shipments are charged only by actual weight.
Australia Post explains the formula for determining cubic weight for domestic parcels and determining girth for international packages, and provide a handy printable guide.
Need to change your package dimensions? You can set factoring dimensions in the Physical Dimension Settings menu located in Settings › General. To learn more about how Factoring Dimension affects shipping calculation, see Understanding the Shipping Calculator.

FAQ
I have multiple storefronts, can I use a different Australia Post account for each storefront?
No. While you can toggle shipping methods on or off per storefront, the Connection tab is a global setting. You can only connect one Australia Post account per store.
