Fawry is one of Egypt’s most popular alternatives to card payment. Using Fawry, your shoppers can pay for online purchases in cash at more than 166,500 locations in 300 cities across Egypt, or instantly via the myFawry mobile app.

 
 

How It Works

Once you’ve connected Fawry with Checkout.com, shoppers meeting the requirements will see it as a payment option at checkout.

After the shopper enters their credentials and proceeds with the order, a payment reference is sent to their mobile device. Orders placed using Fawry will appear in the control panel as Fawry (via Checkout.com) in the Payment Method field, with a status of Awaiting Payment.

The shopper can either pay their order balance in cash at a participating location, or complete their payment on the myFawry app. Once paid, the order status will automatically update to Awaiting Fulfillment, indicating that funds have been captured and the order can be fulfilled.

If the shopper’s payment voucher expires, the order status will automatically update to Declined instead to indicate that you should not fulfill the order.

 
 

Requirements and Limitations

  • Your store must meet the following criteria:
    • Your store must be located in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates.
    • Your store must have EGP as an available transactional currency.
    • Your store must use Optimized One-Page Checkout.
  • Shopper Requirements
    • Shoppers must use an address in Egypt at checkout.
    • Shoppers must have EGP selected as their transaction currency.
  • Limitations
    • Delayed capture is not supported.
    • Only one refund action can be taken on a Fawry payment. See FAQ for more information.

  • Additional Setup
    • Contact your Checkout.com Customer Success Manager or reach out to Checkout.com Support to enable it on your Checkout.com account.

FAQ

Are there any additional restrictions on refunding Fawry transactions?

Only one refund action may be taken on a Fawry payment. This means that if you do a partial refund on an order, you cannot perform a second refund, even if there is still funds available on the order. In addition, Fawry refunds are always rounded down to the nearest whole number. For example, attempting to refund a payment amount for 10999 (EGP 109.99) will only refund 10900 (EGP 109.00).

In the example above, you would see "EGP 109.99" displayed on the order in your store, but you would see "EGP 109.00" (the actual refunded amount) in your Checkout.com account.

Can I adjust the expiration window for paying the order balance?

When enabling Fawry on your Checkout.com account, you can specify an expiration window for payments with your Checkout.com Customer Success Manager.
