The Electronic Payment Standard (EPS) is an online transfer system developed jointly by the Austrian banks and government. As the primary bank transfer payment method in Austria, it is highly popular with Austrian shoppers as an alternative to paying via credit card.

How It Works

Once enabled, shoppers meeting the requirements will see EPS as an available payment method on the checkout page.

EPS on the checkout page

When a shopper selects EPS and proceeds with their order, they will be redirected to the EPS payment page. From there, they can enter their banking information and complete the transaction.

After the order has been placed, it will appear in your control panel as gateway (eps) or eps (via gateway) in the Payment Method field. Orders placed using EPS share the same fulfillment process as typical orders.

FAQ

Are recurring payments supported on EPS?

If you have connected EPS via Mollie, you can use it in conjunction with SEPA Direct Debit to enable Stored International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs). Stored IBANs cannot be used by the customer on future orders, but it can be used by the merchant for recurring charges, such as subscriptions.

If you have connected EPS with a different gateway, it will not support recurring payments.
