Sezzle is an alternative payment platform that increases sales and basket sizes by enabling your customers to 'buy now and pay later' with interest-free installment plans. Sezzle collects 25% of the purchase price from the consumer at the time of purchase, but pays the merchant the full purchase price upfront, less their fee. The merchant assumes no credit or fraud risk. Sezzle then schedules three additional installments of 25% to be automatically debited from the consumer every two weeks, completely interest- and fee-free.

Setup

To set up Sezzle, go to SettingsPayments and click on Online Payment Methods.

Locate Sezzle and click Set up beside it.

The set up button next to Sezzle

You'll be taken to the Sezzle Settings tab. In the fields below, enter the credentials from your Sezzle account into their corresponding fields. Click Save when done.

  • Public Key — The public key generated within your Sezzle Merchant Dashboard
  • Private Key — The private key generated within your Sezzle Merchant Dashboard
  • Transaction Type — Select "Authorize and Capture" (recommended) or "Authorize Only." See Manually Capturing Transactions for details.
  • Test Mode — determines whether your store is in Test Mode. Set to No (Recommended) when you are ready to take payments. Ensure you are using your Test Public and Private Keys when using Test Mode. Your Production Keys will not work with Test Mode.

Pricing and Fees

What fees are associated with the gateway?

Fees are adjusted on a per merchant basis, starting at 6%. If you have questions about pricing please contact Sezzle at merchantsupport@sezzle.com.

Transactions

After I create an account, what is the waiting period before I can process transactions?

Our SLA is 99% reviewed in 3 business days. Most are reviewed same day.

How long until the funds are transferred to my bank?

Sezzle operates on a next day settlement model. Your funds are available the day after the transaction.

Will I or my customers receive an additional email or invoice from the payment gateway?

Reporting is available in the Sezzle merchant dashboard at https://dashboard.sezzle.com/merchant. Email notifications can also be configured in the dashboard, but invoices will not be sent separately.

Refunds

How soon after a transaction can I perform a refund?

Refunds can be processed immediately after a transaction is completed.

Note: Refunds from within your BigCommerce control panel are supported in the integration. Refunds from within your Sezzle Merchant Dashboard portal are not supported within the integration.

Is there an amount of time after which I cannot perform a refund?

No.

Are there any fees for chargebacks/refunds?

There are no additional fees for chargebacks or refunds.

Additional Features

Are there any fraud filtering options available?

No. Sezzle handles fraud and chargeback risk for transactions provided that items are shipped and arrive for the shopper.

Does it allow authorize-only or recurring/subscription payments?

Authorizations: Yes. Authorize-Only, Authorize & Capture, Void, Full Refund, and Partial Refund are supported.

Recurring/Subscriptions: Not supported at this time.
