Electronic Payment Exchange (EPX) allows merchants to accept credit card payments and smoothly integrates with your checkout flow. Accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB and Diners Club cards directly on your online store.

Requirements

  • Store must be based in the United States.
  • Store must be transacting in USD.
  • Manage Payments and Manage Settings user permissions must be enabled.
 

Setup

If you do not currently have an Electronic Payment Exchange merchant account, reach out to EPX by phone at (877) 840-1952 or via contact form. When you are ready to proceed, EPX will guide you through the application process.

Once your merchant account is approved, you should receive a VAR sheet from equipmentsolutions@paymentshub.com with your merchant credentials, including the EPI ID and EPI Key. Use the steps below to connect your merchant account with your store.

 

Haven't received your credentials? If your account has been approved for over 24 hours, reach out to EPX's customer support team and they will make sure you receive the necessary credentials.

1. Go to SettingsPayments and select Electronic Payment Exchange from the list of Online Payment Methods.

2. You will be taken to the Electronic Payment Exchange Settings tab. Copy and paste the merchant credentials provided by EPX into the EPI ID and EPI Key fields.

  • EPI ID — the identifier provided to you in the VAR sheet.
  • EPI Key — the API key provided to you in the VAR sheet.
  • Credit Card — toggles credit card visibility on the checkout by clicking Enable/Disable.
  • Transaction Type — can be set to Authorize and Capture or Authorize Only. Authorize Only allows you to capture the funds manually. See Manually Capturing Transactions (Authorize Only) to learn more.
  • Test Mode — determines whether your store is in Test Mode, which allows you to safely test your payment configuration without processing live transactions. Use the checkbox to toggle this setting.

3. When ready, Save your settings. Electronic Payment Exchange will be live in your checkout.

What fees are associated with Electronic Payment Exchange?

What currencies and countries does Electronic Payment Exchange support?

United States and USD.

What items are restricted for merchants to sell?

While Electronic Payment Exchange supports virtually all merchant business types, some businesses are restricted and subject to certain requirements. To ensure your eligibility for a merchant account, please contact EPX directly to discuss this during your setup process.

Transactions

After I create an account, what is the waiting period before I can process transactions?

Typically your account will be auto approved instantly, and you can start to process right away. In some cases, Electronic Payment Exchange may need a little more information before they allow you to start processing. EPX aims to fully approve accounts within 24 hours.

How long until the funds are transferred to my bank?

Electronic Payment Exchange offers several different funding methods, from same day to 2 days. You will be able to select the method that best suits your business when you sign up.

Will I or my customers receive an additional email or invoice from Electronic Payment Exchange?

You will receive a processing statement to highlight processing volume and fees levies for using EPX's services.

Refunds

How soon after a transaction can I perform a refund?

Transactions that have been captured can be refunded immediately. Authorized transactions can be voided prior to capture, or refunded once captured.

Is there an amount of time after which I cannot perform a refund?

Yes, you cannot perform a refund after 3 months from the authorization date.

Are there any fees for chargebacks/refunds?

Yes, Electronic Payment Exchange charges a standard fee of $30 USD for chargebacks. There is no separate fee for refunds.

Are there any fraud filtering options available?

None are supported at this time.

Does Electronic Payment Exchange allow authorize-only or recurring/subscription payments?

Yes, Authorization-only transactions are supported.

Recurring payments and subscriptions are not supported at this time.

Does Electronic Payment Exchange support multicurrency?

At this time, multicurrency is not supported.

Why did my shopper receive an error when trying to pay?

Check the store logs for more information on transaction response codes.   

How are payment disputes handled?

Electronic Payment Exchange follows card brand regulations in managing disputes transactions. They will contact you if they require any supporting documents to support the validity of any disputed transactions.
