From seamless payment experiences to fraud management, Cybersource is a Visa solution for businesses to accept online payments worldwide.

Stored Credit Cards
To enable Stored Credit Cards, you will need to contact CyberSource customer support and request Card Tokenization enabled on your Cybersource merchant account. Once this feature has been enabled, go to Cybersource Settings and select the checkbox for Enable stored credit cards with Cybersource. For additional security, you can require CVV for stored cards when customers check out.
3D Secure
Cybersource supports 3D Secure, a cardholder authentication service that deters unauthorized card use, and protects merchants from fraudulent activity and chargebacks. Cybersource uses 3D Secure 2 by default, and will fall back to 3DS1 in the event that the shopper’s bank does not support 3DS1.
To enable 3DS, you must contact your Cybersource Customer Representative to request 3DS to be enabled on your account for the desired card type, currencies, and acquiring bank. You will need to inform Cybersource that Cruise Direct API is your desired implementation method.
Once enabled on your Cybersource account, go to Cybersource Settings in BigCommerce and click Enable 3D Secure on storefront.
Show Card Element
Some stores may want to only accept payments through Cybersource's alternative payment methods, such as Google Pay and Apple Pay, and not display credit card fields on the checkout.
To display credit cards on the checkout and accept card payments, enable the Show card element checkbox. To hide card fields, ensure that this checkbox is unchecked before saving your changes.
Using Bolt with Cybersource? To avoid duplicate fields, the built-in credit card feature is automatically disabled and replaced by Bolt's hosted credit card fields when you select Cybersource as the payment processor on your Bolt account. Credit card fields can be manually enabled if desired from Cybersource Settings in the BigCommerce control panel.
Fraud Management
Cybersource’s risk fraud management tool is called Decision Manager. It allows you to set up pre-authorisation rules to help reduce costs and improve authorisation rates by filtering out risky transactions on the checkout. Once enabled, you can tap into powerful data insights that allow you to see trends and optimize your fraud strategy.
Depending on the transaction type selected in Cybersource Settings and whether Decision Manager has flagged the transaction as potential fraud, new orders will display in the BigCommerce dashboard with certain payment and order statuses.

Cybersource restricts products based on general treaties, such as international arms. This is addressed through your contract with Cybersource and your acquirer during the Know Your Customer (KYC) process.
Transactions
After I create an account, what is the waiting period before I can process transactions?
The underwriting process for a new merchant account can be 2-3 weeks. Once the contract is signed, it is usually a 2-5 business day timeline to begin processing transactions.
How long until the funds are transferred to my bank?
Cybersource authorizes the transactions and sends a batch of cleared transactions to the merchant service provider at the end of each day. The merchant service provider will typically deposit the funds into the merchant treasury account within 24-48 hours, but it is recommended that merchants check with their merchant service provider on funding times.
Will I or my customers receive an additional email or invoice from Cybersource?
No, there are no additional emails or invoices.

Troubleshooting and Payment Disputes
Why are some of my orders being "Authorized only", even when my Transaction Type is set to "Authorize & Capture"?
Cybersource has a specific case called Soft Declines. A soft decline occurs when a transaction has been authorized by a customer's card-issuing bank but is rejected by Cybersource due to a business rule setting. The authorization has been completed successfully, so at this point you may continue to process the sale by clicking Capture on the order in your BigCommerce control panel or reject the sale by clicking Void from within your BigCommerce control panel.
Why did my customer receive an error when trying to pay?
Response codes and error messages are discoverable through transaction response codes on Cybersource's Developer Center.
If all payment attempts are failing with the error message "General system failure" in the store logs, check your Cybersource settings to see if stored credit cards is enabled. This error can be caused when the "Enable stored credit cards with Cybersource" setting is enabled in the BigCommerce control panel, but not enabled on your Cybersource merchant account. To resolve this issue, disable the stored credit cards setting, or contact Cybersource customer support to enable Card Tokenization on your Cybersource merchant account to complete the setup process.
How are payment disputes handled?
Payment disputes are handled through the merchant service provider. The merchant account provider moves the authorized funds from the customer’s bank account into the merchant’s bank account. Therefore, they would be responsible for reconciling disputes.
How do I contact Cybersource's Support?
For signed accounts, contact Cybersource Customer Support at 1-800-709-7779.
