Alternative Payment Methods
If you are interested in selling your products in a new country, it's important to offer popular payment methods that shoppers in that country both recognize and trust. The popularity of payment gateways differs greatly by region and country. Unlike in the United States, global debit and credit cards like Visa or Mastercard are not the most popular method for many countries. Instead, shoppers expect to see alternative payment methods (APMs) such as a local bank transfer (like iDEAL in the Netherlands) or a local digital wallet (Alipay in China).
To enable an alternative payment method, you will need to have Barclaycard Smartpay Advanced set up on your store, and the specific APM must be enabled on your Barclaycard account (requests for enablement are made through your Barclaycard representative). Local payment methods may have certain shopper requirements in order to be available for use, so shoppers will see only the local payment methods applicable for their geolocation. Click on an APM in the list below to see its requirements and limitations.
While using an APM during checkout, shoppers will be redirected to the payment method to finalize their payment, then redirected back to the store once checkout is completed. Note that recurring payments are not supported by APMs.
