BigAI Copywriter is a free app developed by BigCommerce that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create rich and engaging text-based product descriptions.

Writing product descriptions for large catalogs can be a time-consuming and tedious task. BigAI Copywriter makes it easy to create high-quality product descriptions quickly and easily, regardless of your writing or language skills.

BigAI Copywriter automatically pulls product information from your control panel, such as product name, weight and other relevant details. You can also customize the format, voice and style of the product description to match your brand and target audience.

Including an accurate, relevant, and attractive description with your product is essential for search engine optimization (SEO). BigAI Copywriter can help you improve your SEO rankings and increase your sales by generating product descriptions that are optimized for search engines.

BigAI Copywriter uses a variety of inputs to generate product descriptions, including:

• Settings within the app itself: You can set word limit, style, and brand voice of your product description.
• Your product’s existing attributes: BigAI Copywriter can pull in information about your product’s name, brand, weight, and other attributes.
• Specific keywords and phrases: You can specify keywords and phrases that you want to be included in your product description.

Once all your settings are configured, you can generate a description and preview multiple results. You can then apply the description to your product or continue tweaking it until it’s perfect.

• You must be logged in as the store owner to install the app.
• You must have the Manage Products, Create Products, and Edit Products user permissions to create or modify product descriptions.
• Your store must be using the v3 Add/Edit Products experience.
• English is the only supported language at this time.

Click here to open the BigAI Copywriter app install page in your store’s control panel. The app can also be found in the App Marketplace. Install the app and confirm its access permissions.

The BigAI Copywriter app extends the capabilities of the existing Description section of the Add/Edit Product experience.

After the app is installed, you will see a new button in the Description section when adding or editing a product. Click the Action button (⋯) and select Generate text.

Set your desired settings, then click Generate to create your text. The generated text will appear in the Results window.

Generate multiple drafts of the same description to experiment with different settings or instructions. After making your changes, click Generate again. Use the ‹ and › buttons to flip back and forth between previous drafts.

When you are satisfied, click Use this to copy the generated text into your product’s Description field.

The Guided experience includes a few basic settings to quickly and easily configure your generated text.

The Custom experience bypasses settings included in the Guided experience and allows you to directly input instructions for complete control of the prompt used to generate your description.

• Style — Choose from several style types for your description, such as Features-based (focuses on product specifications and capabilities) or Benefits-based (presents information more from the buyer’s perspective).
• Word limit — Set the maximum amount of words for the description.
• Optimize for SEO — When enabled, the description will include words and phrases that shoppers typically use when searching for similar products online. This can help to improve the visibility of the product in search results and drive more traffic to your storefront.
• Include product information — When enabled, the generated description will include product attributes/information from the control panel. Including: Product Name, Product Type, Brand, Weight, Categories, Condition, Custom Fields, Weight, Height, Width, Depth, and Search Keywords.

These settings appear under Show more, and use human language for input.

• Brand voice — Describe how your brand views itself. For example, “upbeat and confident” or “friendly and conversational”.
• Additional keywords — Enter any important keywords or phrases you want to make sure are included in the description. These will be used throughout the description wherever it makes sense. Separate terms using a comma. For example, “blue, shirt, clothing, women”.
• Special instructions — Use this field for any special instructions, such as words to avoid, words that should be included, or special formatting instructions.

Which experience should I use?

If you’re new to BigAI Copywriter or you’re looking for a quick and easy way to generate a product description, the Guided experience is a good option. If you’re an advanced user or you need more control over the generated text, the Custom experience is a better choice.
