Bulk Electronic Clearing System (BECS) is a direct debit payment method administered by the Australian Payments Network. With BECS Direct Debit, your Australian shoppers can make secure and easy payments with any bank account in the network.
How It Works
Once connected, shoppers meeting the requirements will see it as an available payment option at checkout. They will be prompted to submit a Direct Debit Request (DDR) by providing the bank account holder name, the Bank-State-Branch (BSB) Number, and the Bank Account Number.
After completing the order, the shopper will receive a link to their DDR in the order confirmation email and the payment is processed separately. Orders placed with BECS appear in your control panel as BECS Direct Debit (via Stripe) in the payment method field, with a status of Awaiting Payment.
When the payment is successfully processed, the status will automatically update to Awaiting Fulfillment, indicating that the order is ready for fulfillment. If the payment fails, the order will be updated to Declined instead.
