The Additional Script Tags Variable

The additional script tags variable is a piece of code that is included in every Blueprint theme. It allows BigCommerce to introduce new scripts to your theme that are required for new features or updates to existing features to function properly.

If you are not comfortable editing code, consider using one of our Design Partners or ask for help in the Community.  Due to our Design Policy, our Techincal Support is unable to edit code or make design changes.

Be careful! Removing or commenting out this variable will keep certain features of your storefront from functioning properly.

Example of the %%GLOBAL_AdditionalScriptTags%% variable in a BigCommerce template file.

If you notice that a feature of your store is no longer functioning properly, verify that this variable has not been removed by following these steps.

1. Go to Storefront Design › My Themes. Then click on Edit HTML/CSS.

In some versions of the control panel, this is located under Setup & ToolsSetup your storeDesign.

2. In the list of Files used by this template on the left, select HTMLHead.html.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the file, and look for the %%GLOBAL_AdditionalScriptTags%% variable. If the variable is not present, copy and paste it on an empty line above the closing </head> tag.

	%%GLOBAL_AdditionalScriptTags%%

4. Save your changes.
