About BigCommerce Pricing

BigCommerce offers multiple plans to fit your business' needs, whether you're just starting out, or are ready for advanced features such as Product Filtering or increased API calls.

When you create your store, you can select a plan based on your desired feature set and anticipated sales volume. As your business grows, your plan will be automatically upgraded as needed based on your trailing 12-month sales volume.

You can upgrade to any of our retail offerings at any time to take advantage of the additional features. See our Essentials Pricing Page for a full list of plans, pricing, and features. If you are interested in exploring Enterprise solutions, please reach out to our sales team.

Essentials Pricing Philosophy

Our guiding philosophy for defining this methodology has been to create a fair, predictable, and competitive pricing model for growing brands on BigCommerce. With that in mind, we always choose to err on the side of transparency and reliability, even if that means we don’t count every single order that is processed in a store. We want to be fair in only charging for legitimate orders, and we want you to feel confident we are counting orders appropriately when we determine your bill.

Viewing Sales Volume

Store owners will be able to see the official sales volume and order count in your account details at any time. This allows you to anticipate any potential automatic upgrades to your store's plan, based on the store's trailing 12-month sales volume.

We define trailing 12-month sales volume as a look back of performance metrics over the immediate past 12 months, updated on the first day of each month. For example, if the current month is June, BigCommerce's usage metric measurements will include data between June 1 of the previous year and May 30 of the current year.

Keep in mind, the sales volume and order count definition that you see in the Billing area may be different from your dashboard or analytics reports. All of these sources contain accurate information, but they simply report on different events.

1. In the control panel, go to Account SettingsAccount Overview or you can navigate directly to manage.bigcommerce.com.

2. Click on your store name.

Eligible Orders and Calculations

Sales volume is calculated as your total sales, including tax, from eligible orders processed over the last 12 months. This trailing total is updated on the first day of each month.

We count GMV from orders that meet any of the following criteria:

  • Orders processed through storefront, including refunded orders and orders with offline payment methods
  • Orders processed through the control panel
  • Orders that have a captured payment status
  • Orders created via API (native, third-party, custom apps and integrations)

Sales from the following order types are excluded:

How do I ensure that imported historical orders aren't counted as new orders or GMV? When migrating orders from a previous platform, which involves creating new orders via API, use M-MIG in the external_source field to exclude these orders from affecting your store's trailing 12-month sales volume. These orders do not deduct product stock and will bypass quantity requirements.

FAQ

How does BigCommerce calculate GMV for stores transacting in non-USD currencies?

Similar to how we calculate GMV on stores transacting in USD, we look at the store's non-USD order values, and then convert it to USD. From there, GMV is calculated by using the converted values. Order values are converted daily to ensure accuracy in all currency conversions.
