Using GoDaddy for Email

GoDaddy is a popular domain registrar that also provides email hosting for its users. If you are planning to point your name servers to BigCommerce and want to use GoDaddy as your email host, follow the steps below. If you are pointing your domain to BigCommerce using a different type of DNS record, GoDaddy will remain your email host and you will not need to follow these steps.

Although you can point your email at any time, we recommend following these steps before pointing your name servers to avoid any interruptions to your email service.

Changing Your DNS Records

When your name server records are pointed to BigCommerce, BigCommerce becomes the host of both your website and email. You will need to point the email DNS records back to GoDaddy so that GoDaddy can resume hosting your email.

Need help? These steps reference GoDaddy, a third-party platform. If your email is not working after following these steps, please contact GoDaddy for assistance at 480-505-8877. As your email host, GoDaddy will better be able to access your account information and assist you.

1. In your BigCommerce control panel, select Server SettingsDNS Records.

2. Under the Mail Servers tab, change your MX records to the ones provided by GoDaddy for your region. Do not keep any of the original MX records. The records in the image below are for illustrative purposes and may not reflect the records you should be using.
