Connecting with Laybuy

Laybuy offers customers more choice and more flexibility in the way they pay. Customers can “buy now, pay later” with 6, interest-free, weekly installments. But it’s merchants who really benefit from Laybuy, with Laybuy retailers reporting:

  • Increase in conversion rates
  • Increase in Average Order Value
  • Better fraud-protection
 

Requirements

  • Store must be configured to require phone number on checkout.
  • Store must be based on one of the following countries:
    • Australia
    • New Zealand
    • United Kingdom
  • Store must be transacting in one of the following currencies:
    • AUD
    • NZD
    • GBP
  • Store must use Optimized One Page Checkout.
  • Manage Payments and Manage Settings user permissions must be enabled.
 

Setup

To set up Laybuy, go to SettingsPayments and click on Online Payment Methods.

Locate Laybuy and click Set up beside it.

You'll be taken to the Laybuy Settings tab. In the fields below, enter the credentials from your Laybuy account into their corresponding fields. Click Save when done.

  • Display Name — control how the payment gateway appears at checkout.
  • Merchant ID — The Merchant ID from your Laybuy merchant account.
  • API Key — The API Key from your Laybuy merchant account.
  • Transaction Type — can be set to Authorize & Capture or Authorize Only. Authorize Only allows you to capture the funds manually. See Manually Capturing Transactions (Authorize Only) to learn more.
  • Test Mode — determines whether your store is in Test Mode. Set to No (Recommended) when you are ready to take payments.

Recommended: Since Laybuy requires the customer's phone number, we recommend making the phone number field required at checkout. To do this, go to SettingsAccount sign up formAddress FieldsEdit Phone Number and check Required.

Increase Laybuy Adoption at Checkout

Help increase adoption of Laybuy on your checkout, by optionally enabling the Laybuy promo banner to display on your storefront.

When you optionally display the Laybuy banner on your storefront, it appears on your product pages, allowing the shopper to see the breakdown of the product price, if they were to purchase the product using Laybuy.

To enable the Laybuy promo banner, follow these steps:

1. Go to StorefrontScript Manager.

2. Click Create a Script.

3. Set up the following:

  • Location on page: Footer
  • Select pages where script will be added: Store pages
  • Script category: Essential
  • Script type: URL
  • Load method: Default
  • Script URL: https://integration-assets.laybuy.com/bigcommerce/laybuy.min.js
    • For themes with “dark” backgrounds (like Covent Garden Dark, Parts Warehouse Dark, Artify Jewelry, Luna Dark, Terra Dark) add the following: https://integration-assets.laybuy.com/bigcommerce/laybuy-theme-dark.min.js

4. Save your settings.

The Laybuy banner appears on product pages.

Common Questions

Pricing and Fees

What fees are associated with the gateway?

The only fee Laybuy charges is the commission rate upon reviewing the eligibility of the merchant. Laybuy transfers the full amount of the total purchase price overnight, less this rate. The customer then makes the repayments back to Laybuy, and holds all risk.

Account Eligibility

What currencies and countries does the payment gateway support?

Merchants must be based in Australia, New Zealand or United Kingdom, and be transacting in AUD, NZD, or GBP.

What items are restricted for merchants to sell?

Restricted items vary by market. After submitting your Laybuy merchant application form, Laybuy will review and may contact you with additional information regarding your merchant application.

Transactions

After I create an account, what is the waiting period before I can process transactions?

As soon as the integration is complete with your store, you can then let your customers know they can now purchase with Laybuy.

How long until the funds are transferred to my bank?

Settlements are typically overnight which will be settled into your nominated bank account.

Will I or my customers receive an additional email or invoice from the payment gateway?

All reports can be downloaded from the Laybuy Merchant Dashboard.

Refunds

How soon after a transaction can I perform a refund?

As soon as the transaction has been processed, this will allow the instant ability to refund this transaction.

Is there an amount of time after which I cannot perform a refund?

No, there is no maximum time a refund cannot be performed within.

Are there any fees for chargebacks/refunds?

No. Laybuy holds the commission rate for all transactions, including refunds, so the merchant does not pay any additional fee.

Additional Features

Are there any fraud filtering options available?

No, however there is no risk to the merchants with Laybuy. As a merchant, you will get paid regardless. Laybuy might email a merchant for suspicious orders. But no fraud responses are sent to BigCommerce as part of the integration. If a shopper looks fraudulent, Laybuy will prevent the shopper from even creating a Laybuy account. So fraud is handled on the front-end by Laybuy, prior to the processing of any transactions.

Does it allow authorize-only or recurring/subscription payments?

Authorize-only, Authorize & Capture, void, and full and partial refunds are supported. At this time, recurring and subscription payments are not supported through the BigCommerce integration.

Does it support multicurrency? (supported by BigCommerce multicurrency)

Yes.

Does it support 3D-Secure?

Yes, 3D-Secure supported by Laybuy within the hosted experience.

Are Stored Credit Cards (vaulting) supported?

No.

Troubleshooting and Payment Disputes

Why did my shopper receive an error when trying to pay?

If your shopper sees a unique error in relation to their customer account, please direct them to our 24 hour customer service team at help@laybuy.com.

How are payment disputes handled?

Payment disputes are handled within Laybuy’s customer service. If a customer has any issues with their payment, we would strongly advise they reach out to help@laybuy.com as soon as they can.
