Which version of PayPal should I use?

Merchants Based in the US

If you are based in the United States, we recommend PayPal powered by Braintree. This integration combines credit card processing with PayPal Express Checkout functionality with an interface that lets your customers pay with their PayPal account without ever leaving your storefront. BigCommerce also offers special pre-negotiated rates to qualified merchants.

For more information on PayPal powered by Braintree, include a setup guide and FAQs, see Connecting with PayPal powered by Braintree.

Merchants Based Outside the US

We recommend Connecting with PayPal powered by Braintree for merchants based in the 70+ countries it supports. In addition to processing credit cards on your checkout page, Paypal powered by Braintree offers more advanced functionality than other PayPal integrations, including support for 3D Secure and in-context PayPal checkout.

If you're using a different credit card processor, you may want to consider enabling PayPal Express Checkout as well. This will add a "Pay with PayPal" button on your checkout page and allow merchants to pay with their PayPal account or with a credit card. It is supported in any country supported by PayPal.
